CVE-2022-45292Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthorized account creation via reusable consumed invites

Published Dec 9, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Improper invite expiration in Funkwhale 1.2.8 allows remote attackers to create an unauthorized account by reusing a consumed invitation. The signup flow leaves an invitation usable after its first registration, and deleting the resulting account permits the same invitation to pass validation again. Possession of a previously issued invite and deletion of the account created with it are required; the bounded consequence is repeat account creation.
