CVE-2022-45195Network attack vector

Connection-secret disclosure via omitted X3DH key derivation

Published Nov 12, 2022 · Updated May 1, 2025

Cryptographic weakness in SimpleXMQ before 3.4.0 and SimpleX Chat before 4.2 allows attackers with a compromised key to read connection secrets. The X3DH implementation concatenates three Diffie-Hellman results without applying a key derivation function before initializing the double ratchet. Exploitation requires compromise of one client-generated private key and affects only that connection until both parties send messages and break-in recovery completes.
