CVE-2022-45194

NTLMv2 hash disclosure via external entity resolution

Published Nov 11, 2022 · Updated May 1, 2025

XML external entity injection in Bruhn NewTech CBRN-Analysis before 22 allows attackers to disclose an NTLMv2-SSP hash via an MWS file. The application's XML parser resolves an external entity in a crafted MWS document and requests an attacker-controlled remote resource. A victim must open the document, causing the workstation to transmit the current user's hashed authentication material without exposing file contents or permitting data modification.
