Unauthenticated administrator escalation via authorization bypass
Published Jan 31, 2023 · Updated Mar 27, 2025
Incorrect authorization in Livebox vDesk before 018 allows remote attackers to gain administrator access through unauthenticated API requests. The validateEmail, adduser, and changePasswordUser endpoints perform privileged account operations without verifying the requester's authorization. An unauthenticated remote request is sufficient to obtain administrator privileges and take over any user account on the system.
