Stored XSS via rendered HTML uploads
Published May 17, 2023 · Updated Jan 22, 2025
Stored XSS in Algoo Tracim before 4.4.2 allows remote attackers to execute script in a viewer's browser via an uploaded HTML file. Tracim's raw-file endpoint renders uploaded HTML in the application's origin without neutralizing its active content. Exploitation requires a victim to open the raw upload link; embedding it as a comment iframe broadens exposure and executes with the victim's session privileges.
