Reflected XSS via unescaped search parameters
Published Dec 15, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Cross-site scripting in EIONET Content Registry before 2022-06-27T0948 allows remote attackers to inject script via searchTag or resourceUri. TagSearchActionBean.setSearchTag and FactsheetActionBean.setUri stored request parameters without HTML escaping; the fix applies StringEscapeUtils.escapeHtml before rendering. Exploitation requires a crafted request followed by a user viewing the resulting page, enabling script execution in that user’s browser.
