Protected-file disclosure via root-context path traversal
Published Nov 10, 2022 · Updated May 1, 2025
Path traversal in affected Payara Platform releases allows remote attackers to read protected application files through crafted HTTP paths. StandardContextValve.normalize did not reliably classify dot-dot paths targeting WEB-INF and omitted META-INF from its protected-directory checks. Exposure requires an application at the root context and affects Community before 4.1.2.191.38, 5.x before 5.2022.4, or 6.x before 6.2022.1, and Enterprise before 5.45.0.
