Root command execution via injected zip options
Published Feb 10, 2023 · Updated Mar 24, 2025
Command injection in Dell Unisphere for PowerMax Virtual Appliance before 9.2.3.22 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The vApp Manager Download Logs handler concatenates attacker-controlled file names into a zip command, allowing -T and -TT options to invoke a supplied command. Low-privileged vApp Manager access and a crafted processTSCommand request are required; successful commands run as root on the appliance.
