Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode class attribute
Published Jan 23, 2023 · Updated Apr 2, 2025
Stored XSS in Code Atlantic Content Control before 1.1.10 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The content_control shortcode writes its class attribute into page markup without correctly escaping attacker-controlled quotes, so injected event-handler markup persists in a post. Contributor privileges are sufficient, and the script runs when a higher-privileged user views the affected page.
