Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode color attribute
Published Jan 16, 2023 · Updated Apr 4, 2025
Stored XSS in the ConvertKit WordPress plugin before 2.0.5 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The convertkit_product shortcode inserts the text_color attribute into page output without adequate validation or escaping, so a quote can add an event handler. Contributor access, a configured Kit API key, and a product ID are required; the script runs when another user views the crafted page.
