Authenticated script execution via unneutralized forum name
Published Dec 2, 2022 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in webtareas 2.4p5 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in another user's browser. The /forums/editforum.php endpoint stores the Forums Name field and later renders a crafted HTML event-handler payload without neutralizing it. An attacker needs an authenticated account, and a victim must view the poisoned forum content; the script then runs in the victim's web session.
