CVE-2022-44938Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Account takeover via predictable password reset tokens

Published Dec 8, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Weak password recovery in SeedDMS 5.1.7 and 6.0.20 allows remote attackers to take over any account by brute-forcing a reset token. The core inc.ClassDMS.php code hashes uniqid(time()), redundantly deriving the token from predictable request timing instead of cryptographic randomness. An attacker needs the target username and email address; absent reset-attempt throttling, guessing the token permits a password change, including for an administrator account.
