CVE-2022-4492Network attack vector

Traffic tampering via missing TLS hostname validation

Published Feb 23, 2023 · Updated Mar 12, 2025

Improper certificate validation in Red Hat Undertow 2.7 allows remote attackers to impersonate HTTPS servers and alter client traffic. HttpClientProvider and Http2ClientProvider leave ENDPOINT_IDENTIFICATION_ALGORITHM unset, so SSLEngine accepts certificates without matching the server name. An attacker able to intercept the connection and present a certificate with a trusted chain can supply untrusted responses to the embedding application.
