Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode class attribute
Published Jan 23, 2023 · Updated Apr 3, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in webvitalii Page-list before 5.3 allows remote authenticated users to inject script through a shortcode. The pagelist shortcode inserts its class attribute into generated page markup without validation or attribute escaping. Contributor access is sufficient to save the crafted shortcode; execution occurs when a higher-privileged user views the resulting page, allowing script to act in that viewer's browser context.
