Administrator-session script execution via shortcode attribute
Published Jan 16, 2023 · Updated Apr 4, 2025
Stored XSS in Smash Balloon Social Post Feed before 4.1.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in administrators' browsers. The custom-facebook-feed shortcode inserts its class attribute into page markup without validation or output escaping, so a crafted quote and event handler become executable HTML. Contributor access and a configured Facebook feed are sufficient; exploitation runs when a logged-in administrator views the affected page.
