CVE-2022-44749

File overwrite via workflow ZIP path traversal

Published Nov 24, 2022 · Updated Apr 24, 2025

Path traversal in affected KNIME Analytics Platform releases allows attackers to overwrite user-writable files through a crafted workflow. The ZIP archive extraction routines accept traversal paths in workflow entries and write them outside the intended extraction directory. A user must open the workflow, and exploitation requires knowledge of target paths; replaced executables yield code execution only if later run.
