Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped align attribute
Published Jan 9, 2023 · Updated Apr 9, 2025
Stored XSS in the roundup-item shortcode in WP Recipe Maker before 8.6.1 allows remote authenticated users to run script in admin browsers. The shortcode renders the attacker-controlled align attribute into page markup without validation or output escaping. Contributor access is sufficient to store the payload, but a higher-privileged user must view the affected page for script execution.
