Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Jan 23, 2023 · Updated Apr 2, 2025
Stored XSS in Code Amp Search & Filter before 1.2.16 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The shortcode renderer returns user-supplied class attribute content in page markup without validation or output escaping, allowing an injected event handler to execute. Contributor-level access is sufficient to save the payload, and execution requires a higher-privileged user to open the affected page and interact with the search form.
