Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Jan 16, 2023 · Updated Apr 4, 2025
Stored XSS in Sidebar Widgets by CodeLights 1.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script through shortcode attributes. The cl-review shortcode writes its el_class attribute into page output without validation or escaping, allowing event-handler markup to persist. Contributor-level access is sufficient, and the payload runs when a higher-privileged user visits the affected post or page.
