Administrator script execution via unescaped shortcode class
Published Feb 13, 2023 · Updated Mar 21, 2025
Stored XSS in Anmari amr shortcode any widget 4.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script in an administrator's browser. The do_widget shortcode returns its class attribute to page markup without validation or escaping, so an injected onmouseover handler remains executable. Contributor access is sufficient to store the crafted shortcode, and execution requires a higher-privileged user to view the page and hover over the widget.
