Service interruption via multipart attribute regex backtracking
Published Feb 9, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Regular expression denial of service in Rack multipart parsing allows remote attackers to interrupt applications via crafted posts. The RFC2183 Content-Disposition attribute expression accepts control characters that drive excessive backtracking while parsing multipart parameters. Any network-reachable application that parses multipart posts is exposed; a malicious request consumes excessive CPU time and delays or prevents request processing.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
