Privilege escalation via serialization/deserialization mismatch
Published Nov 9, 2022 · Updated May 1, 2025
Serialization mismatch in Huawei HarmonyOS 2.0 and 2.1 and EMUI 11.0.1, 12.0.0, and 12.0.1 allows remote attackers to escalate privileges. The system framework serializes and deserializes data inconsistently, but Huawei has not published the affected function, data type, or crafted input. Network reachability without authentication or user interaction is sufficient, and successful exploitation elevates privileges within the device operating system.
