Restricted-group account creation via incomplete allowlist validation
Published Dec 12, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Broken access control in TYPO3 femanager before 5.5.2, 6.0.0 through 6.3.2, and 7.0.0 allows remote attackers to create restricted-group users. validateInList checks a comma-separated group selection as one value instead of validating every requested group identifier against the configured allowlist. Exploitation requires the registration form to expose the usergroup field, and successful registration assigns groups that administrators intended to restrict.
