Unauthenticated SQL injection via unprepared AJAX queries
Published Jan 16, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
SQL injection in Fontsy for WordPress 1.8.6 and earlier allows remote attackers to read database data through unauthenticated AJAX requests. The get_fonts and get_tag_fonts AJAX actions insert the id parameter into existing SQL queries without sufficient escaping or preparation; delete_fonts does the same with font_id. No account is required, and crafted values can alter query logic to extract WordPress user names and password hashes or delay database responses.
