Settings alteration via missing CSRF nonce validation
Published Jan 23, 2023 · Updated Apr 2, 2025
Cross-site request forgery in BruteBank - WP Security & Firewall before 1.9 allows remote attackers to alter settings via an administrator. The settings update handler accepts attacker-controlled form values without validating a WordPress nonce before persisting configuration changes. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to submit the forged request, enabling changes to security and firewall settings under that administrator’s session.
