Username disclosure via divergent password-reset responses
Published Dec 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Observable discrepancy in Snipe-IT 6.0.14 and earlier allows remote attackers to identify valid usernames through password reset requests. The reset method checks for an activated user with an email address before validating the reset token, then returns an error for an existing account but a success response otherwise. No authentication is required, and the disclosed account existence can support targeted credential attacks without exposing passwords or changing account data.
