CVE-2022-44268Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file disclosure via PNG profile metadata

Published Feb 6, 2023 · Updated Mar 26, 2025

Information disclosure in ImageMagick 7.1.0-49 allows remote attackers to read files through a crafted PNG processed by the target. ReadOnePNGImage passes a PNG tEXt chunk named profile to profile-property handling, which treats the chunk value as a local path and embeds that file's bytes in the output image. Exploitation requires an application or user to process the PNG and return the converted image, and disclosure is limited to files readable by the ImageMagick process.
