Memory corruption via oversized station-mode DNS fields
Published Nov 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 29, 2025
Buffer overflow in NETGEAR R7000P firmware 1.3.0.8 and 1.3.1.64 allows remote authenticated users to corrupt memory via crafted DNS fields. The firmware mishandles oversized stamode_dns1_pri and stamode_dns1_sec values, but public records do not identify the receiving function or exact copy operation. Exploitation requires the router's Wi-Fi password or an Ethernet connection, and the documented consequence is memory corruption with confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact.
