Crash or code execution via unchecked KEY parameters
Published Nov 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 29, 2025
Buffer overflow in NETGEAR R7000P firmware 1.3.1.64 allows remote attackers to corrupt memory via crafted KEY1 and KEY2 parameters. Firmware handling for KEY1 and KEY2 accepts attacker-controlled values without length validation and writes beyond the destination buffer. Pre-authentication network access is sufficient; exploitation can crash the router or execute code with the affected firmware service's privileges.
