Remote compromise via enable_band_steering overflow
Published Nov 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 29, 2025
Buffer overflow in Netgear R7000P firmware 1.3.1.64 allows remote attackers to compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The network management handler processes the enable_band_steering parameter without sufficient bounds enforcement, allowing oversized input to overwrite memory. The published CVSS vector specifies no authentication or user interaction, so a network-reachable device can be affected remotely; exact code-execution behavior is not disclosed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
