CVE-2022-44186Network attack vector

Pre-authentication memory corruption via wan_dns1_pri

Published Nov 22, 2022 · Updated Apr 29, 2025

A buffer overflow in NETGEAR R7000P firmware 1.3.1.64 allows remote attackers to corrupt HTTP service memory via wan_dns1_pri. The embedded /usr/sbin/httpd service writes an oversized wan_dns1_pri value beyond its destination buffer. This path is reachable before authentication; published sources do not establish whether exploitation results in code execution, data exposure, or a service crash.
