Disabled-account enumeration via distinct login responses
Published Oct 29, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
User enumeration in PwnDoc 0.5.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to identify disabled account names through login attempts. The login endpoint returns “Account disabled” for a disabled username but “Invalid credentials” for a nonexistent username, exposing account state through response text. No authentication or user interaction is required; repeated POST requests can build a list of disabled accounts, but the disclosed impact is limited to account-name exposure.
