Authenticated command injection via ping host parameter
Published Oct 29, 2022 · Updated May 7, 2025
OS command injection in Total.js 4 before 0e5ace7 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through /api/common/ping. The ping workflow removes only quotes and newlines from the host value before embedding it in an OS command, leaving shell separators executable. A valid login and authentication cookie are required; successful exploitation runs attacker-supplied commands with the server process's privileges and can compromise its host.
