Unauthenticated API access via unchecked Credential password
Published Dec 25, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Authentication bypass in Simmeth Lieferantenmanager before 5.6 allows remote attackers to invoke protected API operations without a password. The API accepts a Credential Object containing only a username because password validation occurs solely on the login call rather than on subsequent requests. Knowledge of a valid username is required, and the tested environment contained a user named simmeth; successful bypass exposes API operations that read or alter server data.
