Unauthenticated code execution via upload filename traversal
Published Nov 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 30, 2025
Path traversal in BACKCLICK GmbH BACKCLICK Professional 5.9.63 allows remote attackers to execute code through a crafted upload filename. The externally reachable /bc/servlet/gui.FileUpload servlet uses the unvalidated name parameter to construct a server path, so ../ components escape the upload directory. No authentication is required, and writing a JSP file into the web-accessible assets directory executes commands with the Tomcat user's permissions.
