CVE-2022-44004Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated account takeover via caller-directed password reset

Published Nov 16, 2022 · Updated Apr 30, 2025

Authentication bypass in BACKCLICK Professional 5.9.63 allows remote attackers to reset any account password through its external web interface. The exposed DWR GUIAjax.sendPasswordReminder service accepts a caller-supplied user ID and email address without authentication, changes that user's password, and sends the temporary credential to the supplied address. Network access to the external host is sufficient to lock out any chosen user; account takeover follows when the management interface is reachable.
