CVE-2022-43958

User impersonation via plaintext credential storage

Published Nov 8, 2022 · Updated Apr 21, 2025

Cleartext credential storage in Siemens IBS QMS Automotive before 12.39 allows remote authenticated users to impersonate other users. The user database writes credentials as plaintext without hashing, so an actor able to read the stored records obtains reusable passwords. Exploitation requires low privileges and adjacent-network reachability; exposed credentials permit access as other application users.
