CVE-2022-43946Network attack vector

SYSTEM command execution via insecure logging pipe

Published Apr 11, 2023 · Updated Oct 23, 2024

Improper pipe access control in Fortinet FortiClient for Windows allows remote attackers to execute commands as SYSTEM. The FortiClient Logging daemon applies insufficient access controls to a sensitive Windows pipe, and a TOCTOU race permits attacker-controlled data to be written into it. Reachability requires access from the same file-sharing network; successful exploitation grants command execution in the privileged service context.
