CVE-2022-43945Network attack vector

NFS server crash via RPC page-array buffer overflow

Published Nov 4, 2022 · Updated May 12, 2026

Buffer overflow in Linux kernel NFSD before 5.19.17 or 6.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to crash NFS servers with crafted RPC. NFSD combines RPC receive and send pages in one array, but trailing garbage shrinks the send allocation while handlers process the oversized request and overrun that space. A reachable TCP NFS service and client access are required; the documented consequence is a server-side service interrupt without out-of-bounds memory access.
