Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode class attribute
Published Jan 9, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Avirtum ImageLinks 1.5.3 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via a crafted shortcode. The shortcode handler places the attacker-controlled class attribute into rendered image markup without sanitizing the value or escaping it for an HTML attribute. Contributor-level access is sufficient; the script runs when a visitor opens the injected post and moves the pointer over the image.
