Local system crash via undisclosed pfcdd flaw
Published Dec 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Denial of service in the pfcdd kernel extension in IBM AIX 7.1, 7.2, and 7.3 allows local users to crash the system. IBM identifies the affected locus as bos.pfcdd.rte but has not published the malformed operation or input that triggers the failure. A non-privileged local account is sufficient, and successful exploitation affects availability only by crashing the host.
