CVE-2022-43781Network attack vector

Code execution via username-derived environment variables

Published Nov 17, 2022 · Updated Oct 2, 2024

Command injection in Atlassian Bitbucket Server and Data Center 7.0 through 8.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The affected code carries an attacker-controlled username through environment variables into an operating-system command without neutralization. Exploitation requires control of a username; public signup removes authentication, while PostgreSQL deployments and default-mesh 8.x instances are unaffected.
