Authenticated command execution via Spring template injection
Published Apr 3, 2023 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Template injection in Hitachi Vantara Pentaho BA Server 1.0 through 9.3.0.1 and 9.4.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands. The /api/ldap/config/ldapTreeNodeChildren web service accepts attacker-controlled url values that are stored in properties files and later interprets embedded Spring templates with access to arbitrary Java classes. Low-privilege credentials are sufficient, and successful exploitation runs commands as the account hosting the server.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
