CVE-2022-43679Network attack vector

Password-reset URL spoofing via forwarded Host header

Published Nov 10, 2022 · Updated May 1, 2025

URL spoofing in the ownCloud Server Docker image 10.11 and earlier allows remote attackers to alter password-reset links via request headers. The container automatically derives its trusted domain from HTTP_X_FORWARDED_HOST or SERVER_NAME, replacing the intended allowlist with attacker-controlled input. Exploitation requires a recipient to follow the poisoned reset link, and the resulting impact is limited to redirecting the reset flow to an attacker-selected host.
