CVE-2022-43650

Information disclosure via ZIP buffer over-read

Published Mar 29, 2023 · Updated Feb 12, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in ZIP parsing in RARLAB WinRAR 6.11 allows remote attackers to disclose process memory through a crafted archive. The ZIP unpacking path reads beyond the end of an allocated buffer when it processes malformed archive data, and the invalid access can also crash WinRAR. Exploitation requires a user to visit a malicious page or open the file; code execution is reported only when the flaw is chained with another vulnerability.
