CVE-2022-43606Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Server crash via null connection callback

Published Mar 16, 2023 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Use of an uninitialized pointer in EIP Stack Group OpENer commit 58ee13c allows remote attackers to crash the server over EtherNet/IP. A zero-length LargeForwardOpen connection path leaves class ID zero, selects a zero-filled connection-management entry, and calls its null open_connection_function pointer. Unauthenticated network access is sufficient; repeated crafted requests interrupt only service availability.
