Configuration tampering and disablement via unauthenticated RS-232 commands
Published Dec 5, 2022 · Updated Apr 23, 2025
Authentication bypass in BD BodyGuard infusion pumps allows physically proximate attackers to configure or disable the device. The enabled RS-232 interface accepts read and configuration-changing commands without prior authentication. Exploitation requires physical access, specialized serial equipment, and pump-specific command knowledge; configuration changes can leave the pump unusable.
