CVE-2022-43548Network attack vector

Arbitrary code execution via inspector DNS rebinding

Published Dec 5, 2022 · Updated Apr 30, 2025

DNS rebinding in the Node.js inspector before 14.21.1, 16.18.1, 18.12.1, and 19.0.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The IsAllowedHost check accepts invalid octal IPv4 text because IsIPAddress fails to reject it, causing browsers to resolve the host through DNS and permitting rebinding to the debugger. Exploitation requires an active --inspect session and grants control through the attached WebSocket debugger.
