CVE-2022-43543Network attack vector

Phishing via unprocessed Unicode control characters

Published Dec 21, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025

Improper Unicode control-character handling in +Message App allows remote attackers to display spoofed URLs in crafted messages. The message renderer passes embedded control characters through unprocessed, allowing Unicode display rules to reorder visible link text without changing the destination. The issue affects the listed KDDI, NTT DOCOMO, and SoftBank Android and iOS releases; exploitation requires a recipient to view and act on the crafted message, enabling phishing rather than code execution or service interruption.
