Incorrect installation permissions in Siemens Simcenter STAR-CCM+ before 2306 allow local users to gain elevated privileges. The application grants non-administrative users write access under its installation path, allowing replacement or modification of service executables. An unprivileged local account is required, and execution of a modified service binary grants elevated authority on the host.
